Frequently Asked Questions
Is deep tissue massage painful?
Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and may cause some discomfort in areas of chronic tension. However, it should never be unbearably painful. We work within your tolerance level and you can always ask for lighter pressure.
Will I be sore after the massage?
Some soreness for 24-48 hours after treatment is normal, similar to post-workout muscle soreness. This is your body is natural response to deep work. Drinking plenty of water helps minimize this.
How is deep tissue different from relaxing massage?
Deep tissue uses slower strokes and deeper pressure to reach underlying muscle layers and fascia. Relaxing massage uses lighter, flowing strokes primarily for stress relief and relaxation.
Who should avoid deep tissue massage?
Avoid if you have: blood clotting disorders, recent surgery or injuries, osteoporosis, cancer, or are pregnant. Always consult your doctor if you have any medical conditions.
How many sessions will I need?
For chronic issues, we recommend starting with weekly sessions for 4-6 weeks, then transitioning to bi-weekly or monthly maintenance sessions depending on your progress.
